Bahamas Kidlit Book Drive
This initiative is sponsored by my book industry colleague, Hannah Moushabeck, and her family, in support of the people of the Bahamas whose lives were decimated by Hurricane Dorian.
The Bahamas Kidlit Book Drive needs books for children of all ages (board books through young adult titles) that represent the population of the Bahamas, which is made up of 85% Afro/Black Bahamians. A list of suggested books to purchase can be found here.
Howard's Heart Sponsorships
River Dog Book Co. has teamed up with Howard's Heart to offer books, activities, and other engaging materials for teenagers in foster care throughout the Portland, Oregon area. A list of requested books and activity kits can be found here.
Finding a cure and supporting the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes is incredibly important to me and my wife, who is T1D, and so a percentage of book sales from the books listed on this page will be donated to JDRF each year.
Libros Para El Viaje/Refugee Book Drive
Regardless of political affiliations, the reality is the refugees at the US/México border are in need of many things. As an independent bookstore, there are so many things we cannot help with, but together with our generous customers and with our colleagues in the book industry in New Mexico and across the United States, we can help provide books.
