How it works.
Two books: choose one, or choose both! Both books will be discussed during November and December. Everyone is welcome to purchase these book from their preferred retailer, read it, and participate in the discussions.

If an Armchair Traveler does purchase the book through River Dog Book Co., they receive a limited edition tea towel that was made exclusively for independent bookstores featuring a quote from the author of their chosen book(s).

If an Armchair Traveler purchases a copy of My Life in France,
they will also receive access to the virtual bookclub meeting on
Saturday, December 15, 2019 at 12 pm EST
with Alex Prud'homme, co-author of the book
and Paul Child's grandnephew!

New this month.
My Life in France is available as an audiobook! For the same price, choose whether you want to read this book as a paperback yourself or listen to it read to you as an audiobook. If you purchase the paperback, both the paperback and the tea towel will be sent to you. If you purchase the audiobook, a download link and instructions will be emailed to you, and the tea towel will be sent to you separately.

Book discussions.
As a virtual bookclub, weekly discussion questions for each group will be posted online in the Facebook group. There will be no in-person MeetUps during November/December due to the holiday schedule.

My Life in France cover

MY LIFE IN FRANCE by JULIA CHILD with Alex Prud'homme

Although she would later singlehandedly create a new approach to American cuisine with her cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking and her television show The French Chef, Julia Child was not always a master chef.

"People who love to eat are always the best people." - Julia Child

A Cook's Tour cover

A COOK'S TOUR: GLOBAL ADVENTURES IN EXTREME CUISINES by ANTHONY BOURDAIN

The only thing "gonzo gastronome" and internationally bestselling author Anthony Bourdain loves as much as cooking is traveling. Inspired by the question, "What would be the perfect meal?," Tony sets out on a quest for his culinary holy grail, and in the process turns the notion of "perfection" inside out.

From California to Cambodia, A Cook's Tour chronicles the unpredictable adventures of America's boldest and bravest chef.

"Your body is not a temple, it's an amusement park. Enjoy the ride." - Anthony Bourdain
